Extension HDMI connections

What is the best way to extend HDMI connections from a living room (Sky+ HD box) into a couple of upstairs bedrooms?

Basically I want the HD signal in three rooms. I don't need Sky Multiroom so the same signal in each room is fine.

Almost certainly the best way is to use cables which are long enough rather than extend.

Or are you talking about devices to restore or boost the signal to allow long HDMI runs?

How long would they be? Would it be better to convert to another physical media?
