Exterior dormer finish. Permitted development

Hi everyone,
We are in the process of having a loft conversion carried out with a large rear dormer under permitted development.

Originally the architect specified tiles as the exterior finish for the new dormer on the plans submitted to the council, however we would now prefer to use cement cladding if possible.

We have a certificate of lawful development.

Does anybody know where I stand should I go with cladding.

As long as the colour of the cladding is not dissimilar to the colour of the roof tiles, it would still be permitted development. Doesn't need to be an exact match; what the rules are intended to avoid are people putting such materials as white PVC cladding on dormers, which usually stand out like a sore thumb.
 
Hi Tony thats great and more or less what i was hoping after reading the planning portal last night.

I think the architect put tiles because we originally discussed render but im now thinking a dark coloured cladding, possibly dark grey.

it puts my mind at ease and will get the wife of my back.

I got the EuroCell Durasid stuff and it’s bowed slightly. I’d use the Cedral Weatherlap stuff if I did it again.

The Cedral looks infinitely better than the cheap white plastic rubbish you see, adorning many a dormer, especially when you are able to compare with a next door neighbour.

There are darker colours available.
