Hi all, I'm not crazy about / a bit fed up with exterior treated timber. OK you can stain it, but painting it, as in painting it some other colour, seems to be a problem. The paint doesn't seem to last long before it needs re-doing. Recently I replaced a bit of bamboo screening round my oil tank and I needed to support it with a wood batten. In the shed I found a bit of untreated wood the right size, say 30 mm X 30 mm X a couple of metres, stuck some varnish on it, and put that in place. As I say it was not too long ago but that bit of wood still looks ok after a winter.
So I'm wondering - can I use untreated sawn timber for a fence, and just varnish it?
(Thinks: wooden boats don't / didn't use treated wood.)
Thank in advance - Terry.
