External Air Bricks

Hi. I wonder if anyone can help...
We recently had some raised decking put up and the joist that backs onto the house has covered the 2 air bricks. We have drilled holes into the wood where the air bricks are (this is now under the decking) is this enough for the air bricks to still do their job?
