I have a wooden back door fitted into a wooden frame. is it possible to fit a upvc door into the wooden frame.

Yes you can but will mean a smaller width of the door

directly into the frame no, You would be far better off getting a uPVC frame and door to fit the brick reveal and taking out the wooden frame, or even better still a new wooden door.
