I had a problem with external alarm bell box. Few weeks back it went off without any reason, buzzing whole night. Does not mater what you do (reset from the panel) it was continuously on. Next morning my next door opened the bell box and pressed anti tamper switch which was inside and it went quiet. Now yesterday I called the professionals and they disconnected the bell box (removed the battery) without looking too much into it. According to them I need a new panel and new alarm box and will quote me. I can understand I need a new external alarm bell box but can not justify new panel. My question is it really hard job to change the external alarm bell box? If I have to buy a new one which make I should go for a direct swap as I am using 9448+ panel or Would you guys recommend changing the panel and bell box both? Much appreciated...

Cheers, what is the main difference between texecom 1/2/3e? Seems shape to me? Would it be a straight swap?

It's a small plastic clip that shorts out two pins that turn on or off the battery in the bell box
