Hello,

I’ve got a plastic extractor fan cover that rattles in the wind. I’ve thought of putting or replacing it with an external cowel.

It is about 100mm x 100mm.

Can anyone suggest a suitable replacement that won’t rattle when it is windy?

Thank you,
Richard

Those in the link have a single flap that rattles just like your current one, you may have to glue on a weight ( I used a large nut ) to make it any less noisy.

The cowl vent does not rattle as badly as the type shown.

Nor does the flap fall off in modest winds.

And the cowl gives much better weather protection.

Just wanted to make the op. aware that they were not a complete cure. As you say better in light winds but in strong winds our flap rattled just as badly & fell off on one occasion

With the single blade type, i've put a piece of self adhesive door seal on the bottom of the flap which cushions it when it flaps in the wind and stops the rattling.
