hi there. I wanto install some external lights on the front of my house. However i dont want a PIR as i want them on continuously at certain times of the day. I cant find timer that links to a fused spur so can i run cable from lights into my garage, then plug in with a 3A fuse? That way i could plug them into the standard timer you would use to operate a table lamp. Before anyone says . . . I know they are fixed and therefore there are all kinds of regs that this doesnt follow. My question is CAN it be done and will it work, not is it LEGAL to do. Any other options for my issue?

Cheers

other, much less clumsy options:

A hardwired lamp with integral dusk-to-dawn photocell switch or a separate photocell

Or a hardwired timer

Or an automatic lightswitch

Or an ordinary lamp with a low-energy bulb in it. For example a 4.5W LED, which you could leave on 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, at an electricity cost of 39kWh @10.5p = £4.14 which is less than buying and fitting a timer or photocell, and is bright enough for a porch or path

Thank you. I tried researching a fused spur timer combo but couldn't find anything hence my elaborate workaround! I will order the one you suggested. Thank you

What about MK Masterseal K56485 - outdoor socket with timer. Expensive but it'd do the job ....

Why would any sensible person want to run fixed lighting off a plug and socket?
