I am installing a grant vortex oil boiler against an external wall. The oil storage tank is also against this external wall. Does the tank need to be 1.8m from any part of the boiler, or just 1.8m from the flue.

I may also need to run the flow and return pipes along this external wall, is this allowed, or do they need to be run underground?

It is the dimension from the flue outlet.

The flow and return pipes you mention I assume are water, not oil? They need to be insulated as well as you can, using something like thick Armaflex.

In your neck of the woods you should consider filling the system with Fernox or Sentinel antifreeze dosed inhibitor. Or putting a trace element under the insulation.

Have you sited the oil tank according to OFTEC regs, in particular taking into account combustible surfaces (including eaves above the tank)?
