Our house has dormer windows with large ply head boards covered in lead - some 65cm high by 160 cm wide. Being lead, they are a drab grey colour. Guttering is fixed at the top of the board. I would like to hide the lead, preferably without removing the guttering, so there is no risk of the guttering being moved too far forward to catch rain coming off the roof.

Where is the best place to obtain quite small thin tiles, suitable for our purpose? I presume the best way to fix such tiles is by nailing through the lead and into the ply underneath?

Thanks for any help, Paul

Now that's a brilliant idea nail tiles to the lead to take away the drab look of lead, I would have never thought of that idea in a million years.

Well I hope the're are lots of Internet users taking up your idea in my area of West Sussex because I would be doing a roaring trade of repairing leaks in lead roof lining because of this idea. Got any more suggestions I can make money from?.
Of course like most DIYers I've dealt with using ordinary nails to secure lead they go rusty in no time. And worse using galvanized nails causees electrolitic reaction [lead battery with zinc plates] There are only two types of nails used with lead one is copper the other is stainless steel both expensive. If you don't like drab grey then paint in black with bitumous paint like Aquaseal No5. Have a chat to your local builders merchant they may have colours of the stuff now.
