External UMTS antenna

I live in village, where the signal of my mobile network is very low and therefore I have a poor quality connection to the Internet via HSDPA modem. Can someone tell me if external antenna such as this www.bestpartner.biz/index.php?kategorie=10 can help me?

Yes, however remember basic antenna theory means that gain comes at a price. That price is that any antenna with gain will be directional.

In other words you need to aim it right to get a decent result.

Also depending on your local laws using an external antenna with gain on your mobile internet gear may well be illegal.

If this is available and legal where you are then it is good way to have mobile phone coms beyond the normal coverage area.

umm that just seems to be a cellphone that is wall mountable and uses a phone handset rather than having a built in handset/speaker.

Basically yes but there is a PremiCell ( maybe not the one I linked to ) that has a data port which I am told will provide internet over mobile phone networks for contruction site offices and similar where there is no local mobie phone service.

I have seen a Premicell working a cell base twenty miles away.

I guess the permicell has a higher gain antenna (since unlike a mobile phone it only has to work upright) and possiblly a higher power radio than a mobile phone too?

Do you have to have a special deal from a mobile phone provider or do you just buy one and put an ordinary sim in?

It is a few years ago but I recall one person fitted a second hand PremiCell in his holiday home and on arrival each weekend took the SIM from his mobile and fitted into the PremiCell so no special deal.
