Afternoon,
A while back I posted regarding converting an old (single storey) coal shed into part of my kitchen. We've had the structural calculations done, and I've got on with demolishing the external walls of the coal shed. Then today it hit me.
Foundations.
I'm not altering the construction of what was previously there (double skin brick wall), merely knocking it down and rebuilding it as there'll no longer be a door from the outside, and to just brick the door up would have looked a mess. But what happens when it comes to actually doing that, and getting BC involved? As it's like-for-like will I be alright to use the original footings (house was built in the 1930's, so unlikely they'll meet modern standards), or will I be expected to dig new ones?
