I am having the the outside of our 1930's house re-rendered. The old render has blown from underlying brickwork and is badly cracked. Years of little or no maintenance have taken its toll. The brickwork below is in pretty bad condition although the insurance company surveyor says it is just cosmetic with no signs of recent movement to worry about. ( one of Hitlers finest took out the front corner during WW2 and I think perhaps some of the damage was left unrepaired - just rendered over ) There are cracks running up and down the wall which he has recommended repairing with an epoxy grout. Can anyone recommend a suitable product that I could look into?
Some of the brick lintels above the windows have also failed. The lintels are stretcher bricks laid almost vertically with a keystone brick in the middle. Some of these have have dropped and my builder has recommended that they are all replaced with pukka lintels. Openings vary from 900mm to 2400mm with largest openings being on 1st floor with about 6 courses of brick above up to eaves of house.
What sort of lintels would be suitable and what sort of price should I be looking at for both supply and installation.
Thanks
HRH
