We have a darkish middle room in a long house, and was thinking of putting in a high side window for light. It will face the neighbours driveway (but we own the strip of land next to our house, there's just no fence as its only about 1m wide) so it would be obscured glass. Just for light. But, we are concerned about extra noise from his car and bins etc, and coming and going through his front door (which is on the side of the house facing ours).

So, can anyone recommend a brand of windows that are extra amazingly sound proofed?

Also, same for back doors - we have a half glazed backdoor at the moment on the opposite side, which goes into a carport that is shared - the neighbours noise bounces about. Not a problem at the moment but we are thinking of opening this middle room up to make better use of it. If so, would also need a super-dooper sound proofed, half glazed back door / front door.

Suggestions? Have Googled, but nothing really came up that seems suitable - too many results about soundproofing cinema rooms!

With the window, thick glass in multi layers will help.

Possibly a good replacement unit with the biggest gap they can do but with an additional third panel or even a second window fitted flush with the inside.

I have helped a mate convert a garage to recording studio and the original shell had a double glazed unit but we added a laminated. Glass panel flush with th einside wall- at an angle . By using two diffenrt air gaps and sloped glass you remove the standing waves that transmit sound. Proper fixing of the window is important as a tiny gap allows a massive sound leak

My day job is in a tv studio and our galleries are separated by 12" thick double glazing
