Extraction hood

I am considering fitting an extraction hood above my cooker.

The kitchen, however, is nicely decorated!

What is the standard procedure for wiring a hood in? Would it require making a mess of the wall to bury a chase etc? Could I take wiring through the ceiling space and down into the hood?

Any advice appreciated.

Spur off an upstairs socket and fit the FCU next to the hood.
