Extractor fan - ducting problems

Hi all,
Hoping someone can provide some helping suggestions.

My extractor fan has stopped working, so removed to replace it.
Turns out that the extractor fan was never fully connected to the ducting. Nor properly lined up.

See images to give a better impression.

What I need is to connect to ducting down another 6-7 inches to join the fan.
As you can see from image the ducting coming down from the outside vent is not fully lined up with the fan and likely can't be ceiling joists.

Anyone able to suggest material/ducting I could use for this?

I often used pan connectors and soil pipe as vent pipe. You can play with the stuff in DIY prior to buying.

What size is that duct

Chop the insulation and plasterboard so that you can fit the fan in line with the existing outlet; fill with expanding foam and plaster/filler.

(I can see the bare ends of a cable on the left; do you know what that is?)
