Hi there

I’m trying to fit a new extractor fan. I’ve put the wires in the following, left to right;

Brown - Live
Grey with brown sleeve - switched live
Black - neutral

There is an uncovered wire, presumably the Earth, which I’ve put in a stopper.

Where have I gone wrong?

Many thanks for your help

Karl

I would think that is correct.

The bare earth should be sleeved with insulation (green & yellow).

Have you an isolator switch and/ or a fused switch anywhere that might be switched off or the fuse blown?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'Where have I gone wrong?'.

Doesn't it work?

If you are saying it doesn't work, possible causes could be that the black is switched live and the grey is neutral; or there is a fan isolator somewhere switched off.
