extractor fans

I wondered what are the regs for having an extractor fan in a bathroom (with walkin shower) with 2 large windows ?
My understanding so far (google!) is that it is not a requirement to have a fan in this room

I have the same question for a kitchen with a gas boiler, range cooker and extractor hood etc with 2 large windows and an outside door.

Thanks for any advice on this (apologies if there is a wiki on this, my PC doesnt seem to want to open the link)
