Fake grass

Hello, probably been asked a million times
How to fix fake grass? Some say timber frame, some say that will rot. Some say no border and just pin it down all over ?

Was also told there is a new base out it that’s better than sand. No idea what the person was on about to be honest

I used compacted sand and then the hoop nails. I did using decking boards at the rear section to hide sleepers spanning the width of the garden. I was able to tuck the grass under it.
