Hi All

I am taking out a brick fire place that looks very dated and would like to replace it with a modern false chimney stack that has cut outs for a modern wall mounted fire and also a cut out for a plasma above it. I have seen pictures like

but I am not sure how to go about making one and making it blend in with the existing wall. what materials do i need?

any ideas any one?

Regards Bobby

It can be made from timber studwork, something like 38x63 CLS from the sheds is quite cheap and easy to work with. You can then cover it in plasterboard which can be drylined or skimmed. or it can be covered in MDF and painted to match the wall.

Make it blend in by matching any skirting & cornice/cove.

I did one earlier in the year from Timber & MDF, the plinth was Covered in WBP ply, exmet and rendered to give the texture of stone.
