Hi guys,

Could I get a dummys guild to building a false wall to tile on in the bathroom.

I understand Aqua board should be used but can I tile straight on to it? Do I need to seal the screw holes?

The shower is being fitted to it so in theory it wont get that wet.

Sorry for the question as im sue its been asked so may times but I dont understand some of the abbreviations!

Strange thread  so how exactly have you “sorted it”? Aquaboard (if that’s what you mean) is only moisture resistant plasterboard made by Lafarge & is hardly expensive. It's fine for bathroom use generally but not in wet areas unless it’s tanked. For wet areas (even the wall the shower is on) you should use a waterproof tile backer board or you could be doing it all again before too long!

With regard to addy/grout, it’s very important you select the correct product for the size & type of tiles your laying & the tile base!

Why's it strange? I asked for advise on building a false wall to tile on which will be ok for a shower. . . .

with ref to aqua pannel - my comment about price was due to the size of the board for the price charged against normal board.

Sorry you appeared to ask a question & then to answer it yourself which threw me a little but I didn’t notice there were 4 days between your posts  . I must have missed it 1st time around otherwise I definitely would have posted before; shame none of the other regulars noticed it!

So is it Aquaboard (your last post) or Aquapanel? They are completely different products, hence my question! If there was a big price difference, my guess is its Aquapanel; if so it’s fine, you won’t go wrong with that.
