hi guys - im assuming this is the fan relay unit in my 307 1.6 hdi....this may be the reason why my fan keeps kicking in..just wanna check..anyone know what the value of the resistor should be on the unit ?..just wanna check if its open circuit....anu idea how much they are from the dealers ?

Thats a resistor that is in the fan circuit to slow it down. If it was open circuit the fan wouldn't work.

The thermal switch that controls the fan will be screwed into the radiator. Two wires coming from it. Probably gone a little faulty and any rise in temperature closes the contacts.

I would be more concerned if the fan wasn't coming on, but I'd go for the stitch first.

You may have bad circulation in the radiator (rad) and the hot water cant circulate to cool down. Look for very hot top red. hose and stone cold bottom rad. hose.

Is the engine overheating?

ta mate....the car doesnt overheat at all, temperature stays normal between 75 to 85 degrees....no loss of coolant, no eror message, no "stop" sign displayed on the instrument panel...in fact drives brilliantly...just the fan kiscks in over and over again...specially when i come to a stop at raffic light, road jucnction etc...someone else suggested the fan switch on the side of the rad...but i didnt know that they had a switch on the side..will have a look 2morrow....

had a look on fleabay for such a switch but cant seem to find one..can you post me a pic or link as to what it looks like or what to buy from any motor spares shop.....?...ive replaced the temperature sensor switch which was screwed into the engine near the thermostat....but has made no difference...

Not for a 307 up it will give you an idea. Go to your local motor factor and they will give you the correct one.

Double check that there is no other reason for the flow of coolant to be restricted or the air into the radiator at the front of the engine being restricted? Before you change the switch.

Would the outside of the rad matrix be very dirty?
