I'm looking at putting pvc fascia board over the wood ones. Gona use 9mm depth pvc facia but what size nails shall I use? The thickness of the wood is about 20mm. Will 50mm nails do the trick or more?

PVC Mfr's often specify what type and size of fixing they require. But 50mm SS sound fine.
Fixings are best driven into rafter tail plumb cuts - this way you can use a longer fixing, and get more bite. However, some claim that end grain should be avoided.
You probably know to look for any rot in the wood fascias or the rafters.
There are lots of other variables for capping fascias and I'm not very up on any of it.
I guess that rot and secure access (esp. for verge barge boards) are the two most important tips that come to mind.

30's or 40's will be fine. Don't forget your gutter screws hold most of it on firm and tight.
