Switching just hot water or heating on causes the LED display to dim slightly. If CH and HW are both switched on I get a quick ticking sound (timer switching on and off) and the timer resets itself. The LED display is then very dim.

It's like as if there is not enough power running to the timer. Hopefully this is just a case of a faulty timer. Has anybody come across this before?

Its an old brown coloured Potterton timer with slide switches.

Difficult to say without measuring things, but I do not see them a lot anymore and had to replace to in the last couple of months. They are a bit dated so it would not surprise me if it had given up.

If its an EP model these are still available and take seconds to switch over.

They done away with the 80's brown and come in white now!
