Faulty UPVC lock

Hi
I'm hoping someone can help.

I locked my front door just before going up to bed last night but I couldn't take the key out of the lock! I can only take the key out if the door is unlocked, but locked the key has to stay in!

Is this a common problem? Is it simple to fix or do I need to call in a professional? How much will it cost?

Any advice would be apreciated.

Spray a bit of WD40 into the barrell and on the key. When the door is open, see if you can see any screws near the locking system, see if you can tighten them a little. Is the handle wobbly or anything?

Yes it's a common problem, but its a new cylinder I'm afraid. The cam on the cylinder has moved out of position - it can be repaired, but more cost effective to replace it.
