Wendy has had a second go at making chicken a la creme this morning. She's using a different recipe to the one she last used, because despite my complementing her on how good that first attempt was - she lost the recipe, or rather forgot where she had found it.

She doesn't like it, though she hasn't actually tasted it, so I am dinning alone whilst she has to meet workmates for a few after work drinks and a meal, after work. It seems to be basically chicken, mushrooms, onions, Dijon mustard, Italian herbs and cream - all pre-cooked this morning, so all I have to do is heat it up for an hour in the oven, add some chips and veg., plus a glass of my home made white wine - wonderful!

I'll be sitting down later to a micro meal and a mini can of coke :)

Word to the wise, never ever tell them that is was excellent unless you mean it because once you do they will serve it up every week!

Tonight, I will mostly be dining on Malbec and, if I can sneak some in while my wife is not looking, crisps. Although it'll probably be nuts again.

Fancy some stodge, possibly bacon and onion pudding:)
Humans often get a craving for carby stuff this time of year. Comfort food... The right time of year to put on a bit of weight to better face Winter.

Pork sausages and mash is my go-to comfort food. Onion gravy and a pile of mixed veggies. Nothing better after a hard day in the garden. A few leaves of tarragon or chives in the mash give it zing, whipped with a dollop of milk and a bit o' butter. The only sausages i get are from a local butcher. My grandfather worked there for years and i was brought up on them. Any other sausage just doesn't taste the same.
