Thanks for the reply. I have treated the decking with some wood preserve this afternoon but the newer planks are obviously a different colour to the older wood. I will get some decking paint as you suggest.
You're better off using decking oil, specially formulated to deal with footfall and rainfall. Fence paint won't last a year or two. Ronseal is your best bet.
Thank you. I did use wood preserve that the previous owners of our house left behind. I got some Cuprinol decking paint from B&M in a deal and applied that on top. We are really pleased with the finish.
