Fiat Punto - Air Filter

My S Reg Fiat Punto "judders" when I'm driving, particularly when in gears 3, 4 and 5. I've been told this may be the air filter! Could this be correct and is it simple to rectify/change?

easy. take lid off engine, take old filter out, new one in, put lid back on, bobs yer uncle. So i understand anyway

When did you last change the spark plugs, and is it fuel injection if so when was the fuel filter changed
