I have a crack half way up a lead valley. I realise the correct course of action is to replace the valley (big money and in a few years time when I have some I'll do it right). In order to give me a few years breathing space, I thought of putting fibreglass over it, but will it stick? or is there a better temporary solution?

You could slice the lead across the valley and slide another piece of lead up 6" and then overlap 6".

That is probably a simple diy 90% fix as most of the water will run down the middle, and will buy you some time till a proper repair is done.
