I have been stripping old pipes around the central heating circulator pump.
On one of the divertor valve threads there was a putty made up of lots of very thin threads. I thought at first it was ptfe tape but it wasn't.
It's hard to see in the photo below, but the stuff is on the thread at the right, where it says AB
Could it be asbestos? Do i need to treat it carefully - or is there another reason.
