Fiesta Zetec Head Gasket Replacement

I am changing the head gasket this weekend, and praying that the head is ok. Having not changed one for 20 years, do I still use compound (hylomar etc) or are the gaskets installed dry?

Do not use anything on the head gasket. I would advise you to obtain a manual and read through it first, I think you may find that you have to fit new head bolts. Alloy heads tend to warp easily so you need to check it out and have it skimmed if need be. All the guidance and info. can be found in a Haynes Manual.

Cheers, have got, read and digested the Haynes bible but it doesn't make it clear!

Just put it on dry. The gasket should have everything it needs on it.
