Hi all,

I've just built a built-in storage unit and finished the faces in MDF board. I'd like to fill the small gaps between the boards before finishing - with the intent to get the look of a completely smooth unit with no visible joins between the panels.

What filler would you use for this? I'd typically use plaster for decorative filling, but with MDF being quit porous I'm not sure it's suitable.

Looking for something easy to work, and sandable when set.

Thanks.

2 pack wood filler, sets quickly and is sandable when set.

Use a hand sanding pad with a hard backing for initial sanding down. -even a square of mdf with some abrasive glued on.

If you use a soft backing pad either powered or manual, you will risk dubbing edges or not sanding perfectly flat.
