Hi All,

Got 4 days off work, so tomorrow I'm going to crack on with getting the bathroom swapped out / retiled. Installing an exposed valve at the foot of the bath (false paneling with hardiback board).

The tiles on the long end of bath are solid as a rock! Was thinking, to save time (I know it's going to take hours of sweat and tears to get them off, leaving me with a very dodgy looking wall) - could I just board straight over the tiles with hardiback / aqualpanel, then tile over that?

Do what you like, it's your bathroom. Four days??? You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din.

mmmm!

"do what you like, it's your bathroom" Hardly constructive advice is it

Also, I never said I'd get it done in 4 days, only that I had 4 days off! (Will probably get 1st fix / half the tiling done). Maybe more if I can get away with just boarding over the tiled wall, hence my post, smartarse!

what are your walls made of..plasterboard/render/concrtete/lathe an plaster...etc..?

and when overboarding the room will become SMaller.. if you are doing a total strip out, would be best to strip tiles as well, make good walls and tile.

gunga din..am liking that...  ;)

Tiling over tiles is a bodge really but it is done. If the wall is fully tiled why fix backer board, tile directly over the tiles if you must! If the wall is not fully tiled how are you going to hide the step?

Have you done your homework re tiles/addy/grout? especially if you intend tiling the floor.
