Been asked if I could plaster a new Plasterboard wall. As I am still new to plastering, is their any noticable difference to the finish of 'Finishing Plaster' or am I OK just use Multifinish, also if I remember rightly I do not need to PVA the board first?
I only ever use Multi whatever the surface. A small advantage is Multi will give you a little more time which can be a bonus if you’re inexperienced. You wouldn’t normally PVA boards, just dust them down but, again, it won’t really do any harm; don’t plaster over dry PVA.
Multi for me every time, more time to play will it. If I remember right it's also cheaper than board finish, but not looked at board finish prices for a long time as I don't use it!
There is no need to PVA prime newly fitted plasterboard, if the paper is still bare.
Just tape joints and a double coat of multi, nice..............
