There is nothing in between our and our neighbours property in one part of the loft. The main part has a wall but there is a section about 5 metres long by 2 metres high with nothing.
As they have had 2 fires in the last 3 years this is a bit worrying!!
What to do - Build a wall (if so howto go around the roof beams that come up from a wall plate or use fireboard?

Advice gratefully recieved. (We may do a loft conversion at some point in the main loft so will it have to meet building regs?)

Speak to your local council Building Control. They are the ones who will make the decision on this firewall.

Pretty much everything comes under Building Regs nowadays, loft conversions definately do!

Wouldn't this also be subject to the Party Wall Act?

It is now but there are still many property without internal wall section in roof. You can mostly tell by looking at the roof tiles, it has a slight bow over the centre of the wall to stop the fire spreading.
