I've just had a garage built onto the back of my property. The toilet window (600 mm X 650 mm) opens into the garage but it needs to be replaced by a fire rated window with no opening. I previously fitted all eleven UPVC windows into my home (except the bay which I wimped out on) but I understand that the fire rated window has to be fitted by a specialist "fire rated window fitter", not just a FENSA approved chap, and presumably I have to receive a guarantee/statement of approval from him.
These specialist fitters are hard to find and I've been quoted about £1000 by the only one I could locate. Compared to the £65 I paid for the one that needs to be removed this seems a little steep. I think I can buy a fire rated replacement window for about £300.
I live in Norfolk.
Any help, advice or recommendations to help me save a few quid would be welcome.
