Hi,

I wonder if someone can give me a bit of advice.

I have visited a care home that uses a commercial gas dryer to undertake a fire risk assessment. I have seen the gas installation safety records for the appliance for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024, and the dryer has passed without comment. Under normal circumstances, this would be sufficient and I would not query this any further. However, when inspecting the area around the machines, I noticed that the gas hose connection to the machine does not, in my opinion, look securely connected. The hose seems to have been pushed over the connector at an angle, causing the end of the hose to sit slightly proud of the pipe.

I have attached a couple of images. Is this a potential gas leak risk? If yes, I will raise this as an observation within my assessment. If not, could you explain why this would not be a cause for concern?

Thank you for any advice you are able to give.

Depends on the pipe. Could be factory sheathed pipe, don’t think it’s Tracpipe. If it’s passed a gas tightness test or perhaps a strength test (commercial use different tests) , then should be ok imo, although I don’t hold commercial gas qualifications, so unable to confirm.
