The BCO reviewing my drawings for my flat conversion has asked for a firedoor to be added to a bathroom because the gas fired boiler is in it.

It's a modern room sealed appliance.....where is the fire risk other than it exploding and then it would knock the door off its hinges anyway!

If it was oil-fired with the possibility of leaked oil catching fire I could understand but for gas?

i have just had to put a fire door on an office door to a friends hotel, and the excuse they were told why it was needed was they had a computer in there?????
silly season.

Current practice is to assess fire precautions on a risk basis, and as the boiler is in a flat, then there may be some merit in the BCO's request

As for the fire door and computer, then the computer implies that the room will be used by people, and as its a commercial office then again, fire doors would be required
