I am a girl and am clearly not meant for these manly jobs so advice is needed, thanks :)

Just bought my house, fireplace was covered it up. Have opened it up and it looks like this:

it looks like it's been half assed bricked up and there was lots of rubble inside it. I'm scooped most of it out but it seems never ending! Will there be some sort of flat surface at the bottom? Should I pull those side bricks out? Should i cut off the plasterboard that's in the way? will my house fall down? help!

I am planning on fitting this fireplace (decorative only, no fire).

So do I need to clean out all the rubble or can I just put this on top?

I am clueless, sorry. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

i would guess it depends on how far back th one you intend to buy goes back

say its 30cm, then you will need to have 30 cm space from the front to the back (like wise for the sides)

if it helps we have an open fireplace, (just a hole really, like you, no fire) but around mid December, i shove a pair of black wellingtons up it, and tell the kids father christmas got stuck

haha thats cute.

the dimensions of the hole required are: 22"H x 15"W x 10"D

And I currently have: 22 x 12 x 11

so it deff needs to be wider can i just hack off some of the plasterboard?

(I like your VfV sig)
