I’ve just had a stove installed with fire board in the recess which I’ll just paint, just wondering how I should go about repairing the front of the chimney breast?
Ie do I render and then multi finish plaster over the top?
I'd use a bit of PVA or even SBR on the wall first and then use a mortar mix of 4:1 sand and cement. Leave it for a day, then finish off with multifinish plaster.

Thanks, will that hold up to a little heat? Doesn’t get hot on that face of the wall but does warm up near the recess. Just don’t want hairline cracking
