Hi, I'm looking to replace my open fireplace and was wondering if anyone had any experience of using old roof slates, stacked, to make a new surround? And whether they had any tips to share on the matter?
The hearth that's in has many missing tiles and I was thinking about removing all of them and replacing them with the same roof tiles but I think I would probably go for a large slab instead.
Obviously I have access to a large pile of old roof slates looking for a new use!
