Fireplaces

Hi All,

Just about to get new central heating and boiler (Worcester Junior) and am contemplating not replacing my fire and instead housing my TV in there instead!

Any of you guys tried / seen this done?

Would I be opening a can of worms and need to get chimney supports etc?

TIA

Potential disaster. It was alright years ago as the TV cabinets were mostly wood and so burnt quite well. Modern ones are mostly plastic and are much worse as a heating fuel, even if you can get them to light, as they are mostly self-extinguishing.

I agree, much better to use coal

But seriously I would post on builders forum who will know what support you will have to give the chimney breast if you wish to remove some of its structure. :)
