Hi
I have widened an internal doorway in my house (Victorian Terrace) slightly, removing the wooden frame in the process. Above the doorway and across the width of the whole room, there is an RSJ. No fireproofing has been applied to the beam, I understand I can fit 15mm fireproof plasterboard, or double standard staggered plasterboard.
Do I need to fireproof the underside of the beam or can I fit the wooden door frame right back up to it? I want to avoid lowering the height of the doorway by anymore if I can.
