First time tiler!

I am tiling a bathroom for the first time. Walls prepared and primed.. and I have a dilema about the tiles.

They are 300*400 (10mm thick). I understand I need to use a cement based adhesive.

As this is the first time I am tiling - would it have been wiser to start with a smaller lighter tile?

What does everyone advise?

Nothing wrong with starting with larger tiles but you do need to assess the weight the tiled surface will take, and use a powered cement adhesive such as Bal rapidset.

There are other good quality brands available but I have never yet had problems with Bal products.

As its your first time you will probably be quite slow to lay the tile. I would either use an non rapid setting adhesive or if you do use the rapidset mix it up in very small quantities and thoroughly clean the tools and bucket between mixes.

The first floor i did with rapid set and mix loads up and wasted it.

Is it your own bathroom...?.
Or are you employed to tile it...?

Anyway as been said...what's the substrate...

What type/colour of tiles are you fixing,this will tell us what type off adhesive is required...

Ceramic/porkies/stone.. ect.
