I am fitting a 2 litre expansion vessel just before the the washing machine cold water intake.
The idea is that it will absorb the shock when the washing machine valve shuts rapidly as they generally do. I had no problem in the past because my cold water system was low pressure, supplied by a cold water cistern located high up in the roof apex. The washing machine now is supplied via mains water at about 2 BAR.
If at all possible, I want to install the vessel horizontally. Is there any reason I must not do so?
