Hi All,
We are looking at renting a place and the only issue is the shower. We have a family of four and wanted to fit a better one. How much would it cost roughly to upgrade this to a thermostatic mixer shower providing the landlord agrees? There is a new combo boiler recently fitted to the property

Thank you.

If you mean a completely separate shower then likely very expensive. That wall panelling would need to be pulled off and replaced unless there's access from the room behind, and you can't just replace one sheet it would likely need at least a whole wall. Could soon spend a couple of thousand on it.

Fitting a thermostatic bath filler / shower mixer would be a cheaper option. Depends on what exactly you mean by " upgrade",what is it you aim to achieve? Nicer looking ,or just thermostatic control ?

basically there is no pressure coming out of that shower, nothing like the shower we currently have. so we were looking to get something like a power shower that had a lot more pressure.

You might be limited, by the ability of the combi, to actually heat the water, fast enough to cope with the demand for hot water.

Is the pressure/flow out of the bath taps similarly low? And does this apply to both cold and hot water or just the hot water?
If either is the case, fitting a replacement shower will not improve matters unless you also fit a pump somewhere in the hot and/or cold water supply pipes.

Are you sure it's a combi boiler ? Combi boilers are fed with mains pressure cold water, which the boiler heats when a hot outlet is turned on ( tap/ shower).
Power showers are not suitable for connection to combi boilers ,and are not usually required anyway. Something is amiss here.
