I'm going to fit a new sink and a bottle trap as seen here http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?ts=88104&id=10004

My question is, when running the pipework from this bottle trap to the soil stack do I need to "box" the pipework in at the wall or do I channel out the wall? I only need advice on the bit that runs vertically from the end of the trap if that makes sense?

Thanks for any suggestions

is your soil stack internal or extenal ? (outside or inside the house wall)

It's internal. There is already a pipe running to it from an old sink that I removed previously. However, this pipe runs down the outside of the bathroom wall and I want to be able to hide it.

Thanks

how long is the run of pipe from the sink to the soil pipe ?

If the wall is dry lined with studs and plaster board then it might be posible to place the pipe behind the plaster board. This will involve removing a section of plaster board, modify the stud work, fix the pipe and connect to soil pipe, replace board and replaster.

If the wall is solid consider running the pipe under the floor. If the joists run parallel to the wall then no problem. If the joists run perpendicular then it will probably mean major work removing the end of joists and inserting double headers.

If the wall is at the back of the house you could take the waste pipe through the wall and then back in again to join the soil pipe.

If the run is less than 1.7 metres, 32mm pipe can be used. 42mm if longer.
