I just purchased a Hotpoint H8I HT59 LS UK integrated dishwasher and the instructions for fitting the door really aren't that clear. Firstly, it seems to provide two door options. I'm not clear what the first one is but mine is a solid mdf door with the usual vinyl type cover. So I'm assuming it's the second option.

Secondly it asked me to drill a huge number of holes to fit 6 brackets. Four of the brackets keep it in place and then the other two seem to allow for vertical adjustment with an allen key once it's installed.

Has anyone installed one of these things. I'm just looking for reassurance that I've lined up that paper template correctly and I should start drilling where it says. If I mess it up then I'm worried that I'll have to replace all my kitchen cupboard doors lol.

When fitting brackets I use half the available holes ( diagonals) and check for a good fit , if not , you can use the opposite diagonals to get a second attempt . The two options seem to be for either shaker style or slab door .

Ok. So I worked it out. In theory it shouldn't be that hard but in practice they've made it more difficult by either not put in written instructions, linking to written instructions on their website (with a choice of language), or providing a YouTube video. Why a manufacturer can't do any of that in this day and age is beyond me.

Hopefully this helps someone else in the future.

The above photos show the large template. It's set up for where your integrated door needs to line up with the top of the dishwasher door. If that is what you need then you fold the top of the template over the top of your door (I don't really know why they put that additional 1cm there and then ask you to fold it over) and then tape it all down.

The two things I still couldn't work out was a) why they ask you to cut it in half right down the middle. I ignored that and it still worked. And b) why it shows two types of door (I'm only aware of door type II and that worked for me).

The other thing to be aware of is that the two metal brackets that you screw in provide 4mm of vertical adjustment just in case it's not quite aligned. A bit more would have been helpful to be honest. It's defaulted to allow you to lift it up 4mm but not move it down at all. If you want to give yourself 2mm either way then you will need to adjust the paper template by moving it up 2mm and then retaping it. If you've done everything perfectly it will result in your door being 2mm lower than it should be when fitting it and then you can lift it up 2mm out of the 4mm available.

My task was made more difficult because my door needed to be aligned above the top of the dishwasher door by 1.7cm. So I needed to work out that I needed to pull the template down by 1.7cm but then move it back up 0.2mm to give myself 2mm of vertical adjustment either way.

Having written all of this I really think a video from Hotpoint would make sense.
