Hi,

About to have the bathroom re-tiled/ re-vamped and the Mrs would like a heated towel rail. Problem is we have ceramic flooring that is going to stay so I am pretty much stuck with the existing pipes

They are 580mm apart (pipe centres) and 45mm away from the existing tiles so probably around 50mm away from the solid wall (again pipe centres).

I have been looking at towel radiators and the 500mm ones seem to have 450mm inlet centres and the 600mm ones seem to all have 550mm pipe centres so I either have too much or too little room to play with (from what I can see?)

Been thinking about angling the valves away from the wall then elbowing up into the radiator (to give me a bit more room) - this is cause I reckon any towel rails will have pipe centres in excess of 50mm from the wall.

Bit of a rambling message but wondered if anybody has done anything similar in the past? Also wondering about the push fit elbow fittings that originally got me think down this path but don't know how much length I can gain out of the valves?

Please help (the wife is now suggesting she calls a proper plumber to do it) as a sparks I am fairly handy and can seal pipework and solder no problem, the issue is a lack of exposure to this kind of thing and the pressure of humiliation from the better half!

I've had a few views and I'm not being impatient but just wondered if people actually understood what I've described or if it needs clarification?

Will check back later

Cheers

go with the closest you can match then put a small set in the pipes with straight valves.

Simple, just cut existing pipes off say 100mm above floor, then having fitted your towel rail, decide whether you can bend a piece of pipe to fit the towel rail, or use elbows to make it fit.

You probably need some straight rad valves instead of angled.

One pipe straight down, and the other with 2 elbows would get pretty close for a 600 mm

cheers,

will give it a go, just the kind of inside tip I needed, just don't work with this stuff enough to know it off pat, could save me a return trip to get a refund on unused fittings
