I've used one of these to connect my shower head:

It's screwed into stud wall securely, with the pipe going vertically down, as you would.

However, when I screw my shower head in all the way, it's not straight. I can only straighten it by undoing it a little, but then obviously it leaks.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Wrap the tail of the shower head with PTFE (or better, Loctite 55) and tighten up - if the alignment is still wrong then repeat with more/less until you have the correct orientation and a watertight seal

Well I already put PTFE on it, so your saying I need to pack the PTFE at the shower head end of the threads, like a washer?

You would wrap the male threads on the shower head side with tape then screw into the right fittment. But PTFE doesnt like being undone, so if you go to far and then swing back it may not seal. Thats where the locktite comes in handy. Its very good.

What PTFE are you using? the gas/water single wrap stuff is thicker and far better than double wrap plumbers stuff.

Ok, thanks. I'll order some lactate 55. Screwfix don't have any in stock anymore... their description does read 'for aligning fittings' just like you described too.

Thanks for the help.
